Stuck in a Rut...

Most of us have a daily routine...getting up, going to work, coming home, watching TV, heading to bed and then starting all over the next day. Day after day passes, often times with mediocrity and stagnation seeping in. We begin to just settle and find ourselves stuck in a rut. Yet, we’ve been promised so much more from our Heavenly Father.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

God does not want your life to become meaningless. He wants you full of hope for a prosperous future. Prosperity is not just money. To prosper is to flourish, to be successful, to thrive. He wants you flourishing...successful and thriving in every area of your life!

His Word says, “I know the plans I have for you...” He has the plans, but you are the one who has to seek and find that plan for your life. Usually things don’t just land in your lap. You have to seek after God and find out what He wants you to do with your life. Knowing God the way I do, it’s usually going outside of yourself and getting involved with helping others. When you begin to get your mind off yourself and get involved in someone else’s life...the good life begins to open up. You no longer feel stuck in a rut when you are helping someone else. You begin to see doors opening in ways you never could have imagined on your own.

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10 NLT).  Satan, the thief, is out to steal your dreams, your goals, and your purpose. He wants you to get so bogged down in the mire of living, that you will never get out and do what you were put here on earth to do. We all have a purpose. We all have a destiny. It is up to us to be mindful of the enemy's attempt to steal, kill, and destroy us so that we never reach our purpose...our destiny. Satan never wants you knowing what a rich and satisfying life looks like. He will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to keep you from what God has already promised. To stay out of the keep from settling, you have to have a “no distractions” mind-set. You must become determined with purpose to stay on the course. I know in my own life, there have been years I have allowed myself to become comfortable with the same routine, only to realize a whole year has come and gone, and I have done nothing but maintain. Can you relate?

It’s time to step up and make TODAY that day you decide to change things. Start on that book you’ve been wanting to write TODAY. Call and set up that appointment TODAY. Go to the gym TODAY. Don’t put it off another day! Get out of your comfort zone and just do it! Mediocrity is not God’s best. To be mediocre is to be average or ordinary. As a child of God, nothing about our lives should be average or ordinary. Not when Jesus says, "He has come to give us a rich and satisfying life." You may be saying, “But how? Where do I begin?” It’s in the steps. One step at a time. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” I love how the New Living Translation says it, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” You take the first step, and God will begin directing you. It says, "He delights in every detail of our lives!" He is right there every step of the way.

Do you have a dream or a goal? Then take a step. You are now one step closer to your dream or goal! I must add this: when you make a wrong step and turn the wrong way, quickly get back up and get on the right road again. We serve such an amazing God.  Once we ask for forgiveness for going our own way, He can turn our lives around, restore us, and get us right back where we need to His perfect will. My life is living proof of that! He’s a merciful, loving God! Don’t live another day with a “ho-hum” kind of life. The choice is your's, take that first step to change, and just do it! God’s rich and satisfying life is just around the corner, and it belongs to you!
