How many infomericals have you seen about losing weight fast by taking just 1 pill a day?! They show these models with amazing, rock hard abs, and somehow that pill gave them that body. Buy the pills and you can look like them too! Or how about the guy late at night on TV standing in front of his mansion surrounded by his sports cars…order his “get rich quick” packet and you can rich too!
If it really worked, wouldn’t millions of people be doing it? And wouldn’t we all be skinny and rich? Unfortunately the old saying, “If it looks too good to be true, it usually is,” applies here.
We all want instant results! The society we live in doesn’t like to wait for anything. We want it NOW! WORK and PATIENCE are not words we often life to hear...but are very much needed in your “faith walk.” Just like losing weight or becoming financially successful, it usually doesn’t just happen over night...there is hard work involved...diligence, commitment, and discipline (ouch! talking to myself right now). Hebrews 6 talks about inheriting God’s promises through faith and patience. Oh, there’s that word patience...which means, “An ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay. Steady perseverance; diligence.”
You must actively believe (while being patient) and God does His part.
God has an exciting, and fulfilling destiny and purpose for each one of us, but we must take the steps to get there. We can’t be lazy just sitting around waiting for something to happen, NO, we must have PURSUIT of PURPOSE...FAITH!
Psalm 37:23 says, “The STEPS of a good man are ordered by Lord...” That’s action! You take that first step, with God leading and guiding you, then you take the next step...well on your way to God’s plan for you life. Again, there is action involved.
In this walk with God and life of faith you can’t take just one pill or order a packet and expect your life to become perfect. It just doesn’t work that way. Daily you get up with determination in your heart and purpose in your step to...
GO, DO, and ACCOMPLISH all that you are supposed to be doing!
Remember there is an enemy out there that doesn’t want you succeeding in life, so you must ACTIVELY WORK at being on guard (reading your Bible daily, praying, and staying in faith), so when his attacks come, (and you know they will) you are ready and prepared to WIN!!
This journey you are on is not a sprint, it’s a marathon and you must be conditioned and spiritually ready not to burn out. The Apostle Paul says, “Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.” (I Corinthians 9:25 MSG)
So get up,
put your running shoes on,
and Run to win!!
