My mother bought me this beautiful Thomas Kinkade painting years ago when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. It’s called “Conquering the Storms.” Her message in giving me this was, I could get through anything if I stayed focused on The Light.
Currently this painting hangs in my bedroom and just this morning I was dusting and looked up at it. I began to reflect on the many storms I’ve been through, some self-induced, others, not my fault yet seemed so unfair at the time. Regardless, The Light has ALWAYS brought me through each and every storm!
You are my hiding place from every storm of life.
Psalm 32:7 (TLB)
We’ve never been promised a life with no storms, but we can have the assurance with our trust in Jesus...He will help us through anything and everything!
He’s been my anchor when I needed security,
He’s my shield when I needed protecting,
He’s my hope, when I had none.
He is that guiding light, when I’ve felt so lost.
He is my Savior...Jesus.
I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings
until this storm is past.
Instead of always wondering, “Why Me? Why have I been through so much?!” Begin to focus on the fact that He’s always carried you through to the other side. The Light has always been there to guide your way...and with His help, you will CONTINUE to make it through...just focus on the The Light.
In Luke 8 the Bible tells us about a time the disciples and Jesus were out on the sea, and a fierce storm came up. They were in real danger. The disciples began to scream, and woke Jesus who was taking a nap. So he spoke to the storm: “Quiet down,” he said, and the wind and waves subsided and all was calm! Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?"
When your mind is raging with thoughts of “how will I ever get through this?” Just tell yourself to “quiet down.” When you can trust in His guidance to get you through in the midst of your greatest trials, that is faith!
He calms the storm and stills the waves.
Psalm 107:29 (TLB)
Never lose heart, never give up, and hold your head up...you WILL make it through this! A peace and a calm will come if you stay steady during your darkest days. Don’t look at the chaos that may be surrounding you at this very moment...again...just stay focused on The Light and you WILL conquer every storm in life!
When the storm is over... good people,
firm on their rock foundation,
aren’t even fazed.
(Proverbs 10:25 MSG)
